NORTH SHORE WORSHIP CHOIR
The North Shore Worship Choir is a non-auditioned community choir started by Dean in 2015. His arrangements provide a reasonable challenge to choirs of all levels while focusing on chorus singing and using the choir in a corporate worship setting.
If you'd like to make an inquiry about any arrangements or practice track information please contact me.
Dean Thiessen is a Vancouver based pianist, composer and arranger with a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Composition and Arranging from Capilano University. His piano trio, Stranger Friends, combines his appreciation of the jazz tradition, free improvisation and counterpoint within a collection of original compositions.
His compositions for large ensemble have been played by the Hard Rubber Orchestra and VYCE (Vancouver Young Composers Ensemble) along with his newly formed self-named big band: The Dean Thiessen Big Band. Dean's compositions for large ensemble are largely influenced by Maria Schnieder and Darcy James Argue while some pieces have roots farther back to Romantic composers in the 20th century.
Besides being involved in his own projects, Dean is a versatile performer and is often seen performing in the Vancouver Hot Jazz scene, blues & rock bands and as a side man in his peers' ensembles.
Local Motion is an 8-piece function band that performs at weddings and other corporate and community events. Dean's writing for this band focuses on the classic sounds of Motown and Funk.
